I may not have been perfect but when I go down the memory lane and think about myself, I ponder over what have I achieved in my life and whether I have created assets for me and my children .
I believe I may not have assets but I derive strength & confidence from my two great children and feel I got something in my life perfectly right.
I often see my friends and relatives having created huge wealth, position and they do earn a lot of respect in the society for the same, but find their family shattered. Since their children have grown up they, actually remain sad and worry about their next step. Someone is either a drug addict, too crazy about his own life style or spoiled in the company of friends. Studies are never a priority for these youngsters. They have otherwise everything in life from palatial houses to luxury cars and pocket money as per their daily expenses. Is there any use of the wealth and assets created for such children?
As a father of two kids and a desire to give them best education in their life, I have been in huge debts on account of education loans for foreign studies . Today these children occupy strong position in their respective field and have justified my decision for world’s best education.
Are they not real assets? Perhaps, Yes!
Here I am reminded of beautiful lines of Rick Beneteau, “The heart is to the body as the family is to the soul.”
If I die tonight in my sleep: let me have hugged and told my children that I love them, and let me have told my partner how much she is loved and appreciated. We draw extreme pleasure, happiness and pride in the successful life of our children.
Kahlil Gibran said it rightly, “Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love, but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward, nor tarries with yesterday.”
Your assets are your kids. Give what they deserve and tomorrow you will feel richer by any standards. You may not have assets in terms of a palatial house and properties but your kids.
